Mobile app - Aurora Energy
Rapid Prototyping
The workshop outcomes helped the design team create low fidelity mock-ups and mobile based flows to take customers through for the key requirements of the MVP
Validate with customers
We planned, researched and tested a concept prototype with an initial group of 6-8 users from different user segments. The team also tested the prototype with advocacy group representatives to gain their feedback on how vulnerable customers would respond to the new product.
Iterate
From the research, validation exercises the team were able to understand customer actions and understanding of the app. The team were also able to get insights on their electricity usage and actions taken to manage usage in their daily lives and how Aurora could help them from a communications and payment management point of view.
Stakeholder & development workshops
We also ran smaller workshops internally at Aurora to determine service design and digital architectural requirements such as on-boarding a customer, identity management in MS Azure, billing system etc.
Communications
We were able to communicate the value of design thinking and Agile and Lean Startup styles of working to Aurora Energy and develop insights and findings based on the research conducted. The team ran showcases and explained the meaning of terms at every step through the process. This meant that Aurora saw the value of human centred design, workshops and testing exercises to align thinking and direction across the board.
Wireframes
From research insights and business requirements the team created mobile and desktop wireframes which were structured so that information was easily accessible, intuitive and captured the users’ needs as well as Aurora’s requirements.
High Fidelity Designs
After socialisation with the business, high fidelity designs were created for desktop & mobile devices and iterated until the user interface was optimised for the target audience.
Outcome
The outcome of the discovery phase was creation of a base user journey-map with a minimum viable prototype and future based initiatives.
The outcome of the design phase was creation of the user interface for desktop and mobile versions of Aurora PAYG+ app. The team also delivered a user interface for administrative staff, email templates and style-guide.
Phase 2 started in August 2018, with the technical development, testing of the MVP to be deployed by last quarter of 2018.
